Ninja Foodi Best Ribs Recipe

Ninja Foodi Best Ribs Recipe

Ninja Foodi Best Ribs Recipe took some trial and error

So I’ve tried many different approaches for making ribs but I think after many tries I have found the Ninja Foodi best ribs recipe.

First, grab your ribs and remove the membrane from the back. If you don’t do this the ribs will be tough to separate.

Ninja Foodi Best Ribs Recipe

Generously cover and rub your ribs, both sides, with Weber’s Brown Sugar Dry rub (or your rub of choice!)

The first step is to pressure cook your ribs to get the ‘fall off the bone’ tenderness.

Put half a cup of Apple Cider and half a cup of water in the bottom of your pot.

Place the ribs on a trivet at the bottom of the pot (to save the bottom of the ribs overcooking and to get even cooking). Secure your pressure cooking lid and make sure your vent is closed on top.

Pressure cook on HIGH for 30 minutes. Once finished let the ribs sit and natural pressure release for 5 minutes before you open the vent and quick release the rest of the pressure.

Pull out the ribs. Be careful now because the meat by now will be fall off the bone tender!!

Cover your ribs in your favorite BBQ sauce, all over!

Empty out your juices in the pot from the pressure cooking and then place the air crisp basket in.

You will probably have to cut your ribs into two or three strips if they have not already started to fall apart!

Select air crisp 390 degrees and time of 8 minutes.

Close the lid and let the Ninja Foodi work it’s magic!

Check every 4 minutes and make sure the ribs are finishing up nicely.

Crisp to your personal taste.

Add some tasty sides, tonight we had Kingsford baked beans with pork and mashed potatoes.

The end result…..

GrillGrate for Ninja Foodi Grill

GrillGrate for Ninja Foodi Grill for the perfect seared steaks!

Grillgrate for Ninja Foodi GrillWe have raved about the original GrillGrate for the Ninja Foodi before right here

Now the GrillGrate company has upped their game and released a new Grillgrate for the Ninja Foodi Grill.

The rectangular grate simply fits into the grill pan and you use the Grill function as normal using your probe to set your wellness for the perfectly cooked and seared steak.

The GrillGrate for Ninja Foodi Grill has been cut to size to fit nicely in the grill tray

The raised ridges leave the perfect sear marks on your food while the juices from the meat fall into the valleys creating the sizzle that helps give your food the perfect grilled flavor.

Using the cleaning tools (that come with the bundle) or you can order separately, you can quickly clean up the grill plate without having to spend hours soaking or scrubbing.

The GrillGrate comes up clean, good as new, every time.

Showdown – Sear’NSizzle™ GrillGrate vs. Ninja Grill / Ninja Grill Pro with probe

Invest in a GrillGrate for your Foodi or buy a Ninja Grill/Pro with probe?

As an owner of both the GrillGrate and the Ninja Grill Pro I thought it would be good to share a comparison of both to help those who are looking to grill using their Foodi devices!

What is the GrillGrate and how do you use it?

GrillGrate The GrillGrate is a highly conductive aluminum insert that you put into your Foodi. It is a round disk-shaped slab of metal with high ridges that, when fired up, give your food those lovely sear marks as you cook.  The insert can also be flipped so you can use it as a griddle.

You can use either your metal trivet or the defuser from the air crisp basket as a base to lay the GrillGrate on.

Now installed you can fire up your Foodi on Broil and give the grate at least 10 minutes to reach temperature.

Spray with Pam to grease/season the grate and then add your meat.

My test for the GrillGrate, some nice Ribeye steaks!

The steaks were seasoned with salt, pepper, and my favorite seasoning Montreal Steak from Grill Mates – I wholly recommend this seasoning if you like a flavorful steak!

Grillmasters seasoning

So cooking time, simply place the steaks onto the GrillGrate and you’re good to go!

Now, this is the biggest difference between the Foodi Grill and the GrillGrate – managing the doneness of your steaks.  The Foodi Grill comes with the probe and you can set the target temperature for your steaks and the Foodi will simply stop when your meat hits the desired wellness.  This is the best selling feature of the Foodi Grill Pro by far.  With the GrillGrate you’re on your own to measure or gauge the target temperature.  I’d recommend investing in a good meat thermometer, two excellent options are below.

[WooZoneProducts asin=”amz-B07H8WTFHW,amz-B083GH3HD8″][/WooZoneProducts]

The Meater is the most expensive option but the coolest by far.  It’s a Bluetooth based thermometer that works with an app on your phone to alert you of the doneness of your food so you can watch remotely or keep an eye while you grab a beer!  The app gives you the desired temps for the types of meats you are cooking.

NYou can also use this simple method to test the wellness of your steak – The Finger Test

So how did the steaks work out?

I prefer the sear lines and overall flavor of the steaks on the GrillGrate vs. the Ninja Grill.  The major niggle with the Ninja Grill for me is the cleanup.  I HATE cleaning the grill plate on the grill.  The curved fins on the grill make it more difficult to clean AND added to which the grill seems to have issues with the non-stick coating and this seems to scratch off fairly easily,  The GrillGrate, on the other hand, is bulletproof.  The cast metal and cleans up good as new every time.

The GrillGrate can also be flipped over and used as a griddle if you’re up for eggs and pancakes!!

So what are all the pros and cons?

If you have a Ninja Combo device the GrillGrate is an AWESOME addition to your Ninja accessories collection.  It certainly is cheaper than adding a Ninja Grill Pro to your Foodi family.  Depending on what you have for a thermometer and temperature monitoring consider how much you might want to invest in a thermometer as this is the biggest selling point of the Ninja Grill Pro (other than the accessories bundle)   The regular Ninja Grill does not come with the probe.  I consider the probe to be the killer feature for the Ninja Grill, it helps you fine-tune your wellness so you can cook a steak to perfection.

Again the cons for the Ninja Grill, clean up and also the cost – the GrillGrate offers a significant saving vs. buying yet another unit.

What are your thoughts and experiences with the Ninja Grill Pro vs. the GrillGrate?

Ninja Foodi Steam Diverters – letting off steam!

Ninja Foodi steam diverters

Ninja Foodi Steam Diverters

One thing we all hate is releasing the pressure when our food is ready!  Flicking the pressure release value causes the steam to come shooting out of the top of your Ninja Foodi.  Some use spoons or prod it from afar not wanting to be caught by the hot steam being released.  The other issue many experience is that the steam shoots upwards onto the base of your cabinets above your kitchen surfaces leaving marks and damp patches.  Ninja Foodi steam diverters to the rescue!

Thankfully some clever folks have recognized these fears and issues and come up with some creative solutions!  Check out the steam diverters here that clip onto your Foodi’s pressure release valve so you can redirect the steam output and have an easier handle on turning the value without fear of getting burned or ruining your cabinets!

We have many fun designs in the store, check the compatibility of the Ninja Foodi steam diverters for your device as most are for 8qt Ninja Foodi pressure cookers!  The Minion is my personal favorite!

Here’s some fun Ninja Foodi steam diverters:

Cleaning your Ninja Foodi (OP300 Series)

Cleaning your Ninja Foodi

There are a lot of moving parts to the multifunction Ninji Foodi!  With the two lids, crisper basket, seal ring, pressure release toggle it is good to know the rights and wrongs when it comes to cleaning the machine.

There are some very handy tips in the Cleaning your Ninja Foodi video:

  • Do not disassemble the pressure release valve to clean it
  • How to remove and clean the sealing ring
  • How to remove the fins from the base of the crisper basket
  • How to clean the top of the air crisper lid vs pressure cooker lid

Watch the quick video and see how to best take care of your Ninja Foodi!

The sealing rings can be washed with warm soapy water or placed in the dishwasher.

You can get replacement sealing rings for your Ninja Foodi, over time they wear and can also retain the smell from more spicy or aromatic dishes that you create like curry (my personal favorite!)

Cleaning your Ninja Foodi Grill

Ninja Foodi Grill

Check out this video on how to maintain and clean your Ninja Foodi Grill!

This is the official video from Shark Ninja on how to keep your Ninja Foodi Grill clean.

This will help to reduce smoke issues when cooking as well as make sure nothing you are doing to clean your Ninja Foodi Grill is unsafe or might void your warranty.

You can also make it easier to clean out the pans/baskets in your Ninja Foodi Grill and air fryers by using parchment paper inserts:

[WooZoneProducts asin=”amz-B07ZQGF7TF,amz-B07S2QDKDX,amz-B07SDM5W4P”][/WooZoneProducts]

Remember to ensure you have food on these sheets though to weigh them down and stop the parchment paper being sucked up into the heating element with the cyclone airflow of the Ninja Foodi airfry/air crisp functions!
